Desde 1605, año en el que el Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) comienza a registrar datos sobre seísmos en la provincia, se han contabilizado un total de 360 veces que el suelo leonés se ha movido. 28 de ellos han sido de un grado igual o superior a 3 grados y la mayoría se han producido en el siglo XXI
