Im Juli 1944 erhielt U-672 den selbstmörderischen Befehl, alliierte Schiffe in der Seinemündung anzugreifen. Ein Zerstörer beschädigte das U-Boot, dessen Besatzung sich retten konnte. Jetzt wurde das Wrack im Ärmelkanal entdeckt.
