Davant les pròximes eleccions generals, hi ha hagut un interès i cobertura inusitats a l'entorn de la possibilitat que es construís una candidatura unitària de l’esquerra que hi ha més enllà del PSOE. A totes les comunitats autònomes, a l’esquerra dels socialistes hi ha un espai polític més o menys gran, força consolidat, que no poden aspirar a ocupar les candidatures del PSOE, tot i que les diferències programàtiques reals no siguin, a hores d’ara, excessivament grans. És una qüestió de procedència i cultura política, d’èmfasis diferents, com també de formes més moderades unes i més radicals
